One week. Three major launches. Anthropic has been moving fast.
The biggest story right now is Claude Sonnet 5, which dropped on June 30th and immediately became the default model for every Free and Pro user on claude.ai.
Sonnet 5 is built to be the most agentic Sonnet model yet — it can make plans, use tools like browsers and terminals, and run autonomously at a level that, just a few months ago, required larger and more expensive models.

Anthropic had abruptly shut off Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 last month after the Trump administration ordered the company to restrict all foreign nationals, including company employees, from accessing the models.
Then, just as quickly:
Anthropic said it would begin restoring access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after the US Department of Commerce notified the company that it had removed its export controls.
Fable 5 — currently Anthropic's most capable publicly available model — is back globally as of July 1st.
And if you're in science or research, Anthropic also launched something that could genuinely change how labs work.

The honest take? Sonnet 5 as the new free-tier default is the change that actually affects the most people reading this.
